After Dinner Cuddle

Her breath is on him and it smells
Of vinegar and sugar mixed over
A light smell of vegetation
He reaches around her to press
His fingers into her back and pull
Her into him so that he can find
The taste of her underneath scents
Of her last snack she ate during class
Where they discussed poems, images
That appeared from syllables, made
Out of the words composed of curves
Drawn out of a pen by pressure
Gravity, the same gravity and pulls
Her into him so he can find
The pleasant intimacy between lips
As his hands move down her back

She licks her lips as she pulls away
Just once to look at his face and see
His dark eyes looking up at her
She smiles, he reaches out and pulls
Her back down so there is the smallest
Of space between her chest and his
He places one hand on her hair
One bobby pin holding back bangs
Swept to the wrong side this day
To hide a blemish near her hairline
She feels his breath within her
A scent of kielbasa or another meat
Something her memory only
Vaguely recalls as he places
Both hands on her face so he can
Look at her, blemish and all
