I Know I’m Sad

I know I’m sad when I resort to retail therapy
Especially as buying things means less money
For those bigger dreams for which I need green
Their distance making my gloom even more
Gloomy
I know I’m sad when I relate to a person I hate
A fictional character so whiney, selfishly sad
And find one of the highlights of my weekend
Ending that novel but thinking I should read
The third book
I know I’m sad when I don’t call anyone
Since disappointment clouds all feelings
From unanswered texts, cancelled plans
Promised plans which make me feel
Sad
