Resolve

Resolve first to relax, sit back, enjoy.
Breathe and breathe and breathe
and taste and smell
homemade cheese,
vegetables in season,
the flakes falling from the sky.

Resolve to see the beauty
in the bitter day
in the beastly brunt
of graduate school,
of finding that path
that is undetermined.

Resolve to feel the warmth
the cold, the joy, the pain
and touch a hand
a heart to meet,
new friends to make
into the golden old ones.

Resolve to understand
in the classroom
in bound, unbound books
of fantastical fiction,
of academia’s journals
that life is learning.

Resolve to laugh, giggle, cry.
Breathe and breathe and breathe
and sing and dance
to their tunes, own tunes,
interpretive apartment dancing
the life into body.
