On the Bay

03/10/08 random poem in saved scraps

on the bay late summer rain
releases fragrant memories
preserved in salt reeds
and the sea’s weeds
moist, sweet harmonies
fish, salt, sand, and the main
land sighs as humidity subsides
and the beaches are free
from crowds and burning feet
and seagulls basking in the heat
alone, peaceful, joyously
refreshed bay, summer’s holiday
